In hard economic times, everyone tries to cut wasteful spending from their personal budgets. Typically, one of the first to go is discretionary spending such as entertainment. However, some entertainment is still free!

At the public library, you can get books, CDs, DVDs, and often downloads of e-books and audiobooks. You already paid for it (with taxes), so why not take advantage of this great resource. Not only that, but libraries generally have free Internet access. Depending on where you live, you may or may not always get the newest and latest titles, but you can’t argue with a price tag of “FREE.”

However, the caveat is that man libraries are cutting hours and closing branches as public funds are shrinking in these hard economic times.
