dollhouse fringe 300x173 Economic Crisis Hits TV Shows On Yahoo, there was posted The 10 Shows That Deserve to Return Next Fall (But Might Not). Television shows have gotten much worse over the past couple decades, but there are some that are exciting to watch. Unfortunately, the networks cancel many shows before they can get a second season, thus only pissing off their viewers. Then they wonder why no one wants to watch their shows anymore.

I enjoyed the show, Eli Stone, when it was on the air. However, ABC abruptly canceled it in mid-season without warning to viewers, and not leaving any closure of plot. This is yet another reason I refuse to watch television, especially ABC. I do occasionally watch FOX, but now that might change as well. For instance, Fox will not air the last episode of Dollhouse (created by Joss Whedon). However, producer Tim Minear says that the last episode will definitely be on DVD.

Last year I canceled my Satellite Television subscription in lieu for local channels via a digital converter box and antenna. This is saving me nearly a $1,000 per year! Not only that, but it helps to stop wasting valuable time. Instead there are many other useful things I can do with my time.

However, viewership of the 10 shows that “might not return” is not that low. These shows have several million viewers! They might not have as many viewers as the Super Bowl or American Idol, but when a network cancels a show with several million viewers intently waiting for the next episode, the viewers get pissed off. This leads to a spiraling economic downturn for the networks. Not something they really want during a global economic crisis.
